Zodiac Enterprises Limited was a company incorporated in Sri Lanka in 1975 mainly for imports and exports. By 1991 the company had been in an inactive status and it is at that time the company was bought over by the late Chairman Mr. Vijaya Ratnayake with the intention of representing Orthofix s.r.l. Italy as their distributor in Sri Lanka.

The company became operational in 1993 with the first import of Orthofix External Fixators to Sri Lanka. Subsequently Zodiac Enterprises Limited became the distributor for the Power Tool Product range of De Soutter Medical UK and other reputed companies followed.

In the year 2000 Zodiac Medicals (Private) Limited was incorporated because it was necessary to identify the business segment within the name. Zodiac Enterprises Limited still remains as a registered company though non-operational. The main focus of business has always been and will always be Orthopaedics. Diversification to other related fields such as CMF, OMF, OSP Products, Bone Cement, Disposable Drapes and Gowns and Physiotherapy were necessary to provide a 360° solution for the surgeon and patient.

Since starting Arthroplasty in August 1998 Zodiac Medicals has been the market leader for Joint Replacement in Sri Lanka and still holds that prestigious position.
